US MIRROR SERVER UPGRADED AND MOVED [10 de fevereiro de 2023]

We have decided to upgrade the US server that is set as default for our US and Asian customers (but basically every customer can switch between the EU and US server as often as he wants). The hardware configuration isn't important (of course there's now a better CPU, twice as much RAM etc.) but what does matter is the storage. We have upgraded the drives to 2x16 TB which means that almost every single video or photo archive in the history of our site is now available on the US server (in the past we had to delete some older videos due to insufficient storage capacity). These large drives allow us to have our whole content available on two continents. This means that our US and Asian customers should experience better download speeds when downloading some of our older projects (2013-2020) because in the past months and years some of those projects were available only on the main European server.

And we have also decided to change the server location. Our original US server was in Tampa, Florida. When we were upgrading the server we also had the option to move it to a new location so we've decided to have it located in Los Angeles, California. Of course, geography doesn't mean much when it comes to the network topology but moving it from the east coast to the west coast of the United States could mean better download speeds for our Asian and perhaps even Australian customers. (Australia is specific, though - for obvious geographical reasons it's the continent with the worst internet connection).

P.S. Out output line is never used to its full capacity. In peak hours the overall output speed is around 500 Mbps (62 MB/s) and there's still a significant reserve left. So if some of you occasionally experience download speed issues it's never at our side. It's the internet topology and possible obstacles on the route that may lower the speed between the server and the customer.
