Our site is becoming really popular and as a result there are clearly more and more people who want to download from our site illegaly by guessing or cracking somebody's password. So first of all we'd like to kindly ask all our members to set secure passwords when joining our site. Seven or eight lowercase letters are not enough - they can be cracked extremely easily. Please use a longer combination of lowercase and uppercase letters or numbers. Thank you :-)
So far our protection against hackers was that people were allowed to download only from "current" (= already used before) locations and new ones had to be enabled via a link in an automated e-mail. Sadly it seems that some accounts have downloads from locations used by hackers so we have to make this rule a bit more strict - see below.
The only download location enabled by default is the last one. So as long as you're downloading from the same address you're fine :-) If you start downloading from a new location you will have to enable it by clicking on a link that you receive automatically to your mailbox. That's the best protection against unauthorized accesses - and yet you will hardly notice this precaution. 95% of people download from the same location and others will just have to enable the new location by clicking on one link. It's really that simple - and it will help us a lot with our fight against pirates and hackers.
Thank you for understanding :-)
UPDATE ON MAY 23 - I would like to apologize as I've unintentionally disabled IP addresses enabled by honest customers recently. So I rewrote the script a bit. From now on the NEWLY enabled IP addresses will stay enabled FOREVER. Thank you for pointing that out and I apologize for the hassle.
